It is much said that we live in the technology age. Science and technology dominate out lives, whether we realise it or not. Hence it is important to engage children with science from a young age. Last October was Earth Science Week, for this I spent a morning in a local primary school talking about Earth Science and fossils, but this type of outreach is for children already in formal education. Science from the start in contrast targets children who are not yet in the formal education system and provide science-based play. Children from a young age are naturally curious and learn a lot through observation: all good skills for a scientist!
